Quick Guide to Literacy at Running Deer School
There is a three-pronged approach to Literacy at Running Deer to make sure literacy issues are tackled head on.
- English lessons: delivered by a qualified teacher and measured against the National Curriculum or Qualification specification.
- Target literacy support- an afternoon a week with a specialist professional to support students who are working below Age Related Expectations. These will be related to specific targets set by all three professionals and the SENDco.
- Literacy interventions, for students that need specific targeted support for a particular barrier to learning. The impact of these will be measured by engagement and attainment across the subject.
