Running Deer’s curriculum is tailor-made to meet the specific needs of each young person we work with, helping them grow and develop.
Our core curriculum of land based studies, arts and crafts and equine studies are enriched by a bespoke education and therapeutic support package to meet the specific needs of the individual student.
At Butterdon Wood, the home of Running Deer, we have the space for young people with Special Educational Needs to express themselves without the confines of a traditional classroom environment. Nature is one of our biggest therapeutic tools and Butterdon Wood is perfect for young people to learn, develop and participate in activities, even if they do not engage with nature directly.
Our classroom subjects are delivered in our friendly school room in Butterdon Wood by Running Deer’s experienced and fully qualified teachers and staff. Subjects include Maths, English, Science, RE, Art, Geography, History, PE and Technology.

Meet the Teachers
“Can I take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your support with AP and teaching him skills that will make a life long difference to him. You offer a fantastic provision for children and we would not hesitate to refer children in the future.”
